About The Fourth Estate
MISSION
The Fourth Estate supports TexTESOL IV mission by sharing information through publication and research, and to promote high standards in the field of English to Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL).
VISION
The Fourth Estate seeks to facilitate this purpose in each publication by providing timely and relevant articles, information, and communication for members. These contributions serve as a means of communication between leaders and members, provide a forum for the exchange of ideas, experiences, questions, and insights, feature dialogue around issues of importance to the specific interest area, and nurture the professional growth of those working within those interest areas.

Fourth Estate is published quarterly by TexTESOL IV to engage the faculty, students, administrators, and program developers of ELS/EFL on current practical issues pertinent to the field.
SUBMISSION TYPES
The Fourth Estate offers several submission types; see the Scope & Guidelines for complete submission details. Following is a brief summary of those types.
- TEXTESOL IV REGIONAL NEWS:
News items may include any TexTESOL IV professional development events such as conferences, workshops, seminars, and or forums, neighboring affiliate professional development events, and other professional development events in the region.
- FEATURED ARTICLES:
The Fourth Estate accepts unpublished article submissions of 300 to 4,500 words.
- RESOURCES:
Brief write-ups on noncommercial resources related to the field. This may include reviews of educational apps, technology – software and hardware, books, etc.
- LESSON PLANS & TEACHING STRATEGIES:
Lesson plans should include at least five (5) parts: 1. Objective/learning goals, 2. Time estimate, 3. Differentiation strategies: 4. Sequence, 5. Assessment. Lesson Plan Template Here
- QUICK TIPS:
FE Quick Tips should be previously unpublished, novel or innovative, easy-to-follow ideas for use in the English language classroom or in any aspect of English language teaching.
